3WW #24

Welcome to Three Word Wednesday.

Each week, I will post three (or more) random words. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write something using all of those words. It can be a few lines, a story, a poem, anything. This is a writing exercise. It doesn't have to be perfect. The idea is to let your mind wander and write what it will. I'll also attempt to write something using the same three words.

Be sure to leave a comment if you participate.

This week's words are:
Wilted
Drawer
Ink

The wilted countenance
The single tear
The last I ever
Brushed away

Letters in a drawer
Pictures in a box
But those in the heart
Fail to fade

The hollow rooms
The silent spaces
I once craved
Now serve to haunt

Pen to paper
I try to write
But the ink
Has all run out

My muse
Has gone

"You could be happy, and I won't know. But you weren't happy the day I watched you go..."

  1. Tapping feet impatiently while staring at my watch... (minor detail that I don't wear one, right? ;))

  3. Here's mine. It's called "Why She Went Away"

I spent hundreds of hours trying to reach level 70 in WoW
I didn't ask who she was talking to while I watched TV
I offered her a drawer when she needed my entire home
I convinced myself that what she wanted was what I wanted
I pretended to sleep while she cried next to me
I turned away when she showed me who she really was
I took her to the same restaurant where I'd taken all my ex's
My only present to her wilted in the cheap plastic vase
I waited patiently on my couch for her to come over
I touched her where my last girlfriend liked to be touched
The only ink on my birthday card to her was Hallmark's
I thought my wants were more important than her needs
I cooked her dinner in the microwave
I thought she was ugly when she was never more beautiful
I wrote about inanity when I should have been writing to her
I let her think she wasn't important to me
I fucked her when she needed to be loved
    That's why she went away

  4. I love the last two lines especially.

You know how I feel about cliches, and with each line then the next in your lyrics, you took potential cliches and swept them away

    Love this also:
    Pen to paper
    I try to write
    But the ink
    Has all run out

There's a truly timeless quality to this that I like

Mine will be up Friday. Don't want to upset you by actually having it on Wednesday

  5. Renee: I waited over two hours before I said anything today. :-P

That said, I do feel bad having read this.

Amazing doesn't quite cover it, Bone. My brain's a little shot right now though, so I don't think I can say anything that will do it justice.

  6. Renee: Nice job on your 3rd overall and 1st on your blog :)

Xinh: Good to see someone is having a bit more time to blog lately.

Anonymous AC: Wow. I've been guilty of several of those myself. Although thankfully, not the first :)

    Thanks for participating.

Pia: Thank you. And thanks for not upsetting the space time continuum by actually posting your 3WW on Wednesday :)

    TC: Don't feel bad! I know you're teasing :)

I'm not sure it's anything great, but thank you.

  11. I'm not sure it's anything great

Well I am sure, and it's obviously my opinion that counts and not your's. ;)

  12. TagAlong: Why, yes. It's quite fun, actually, seeing what everyone comes up with.

HotPinkSox: Wow. Welcome to the party. Do you need something to write with? ;)

Renee: Why, thanks. Writing about the innerworkings of public restrooms comes naturally to me, for some reason :)

Judy: Welcome to the 3 Word Wednesday! It's sort of like Mad Libs, except not as funny :)

    TC: Obviously :)

Isnt it funny that we all feel the same feelings and we all bleed red... even though we all seem so different and unique!

sorry.. I am going on and on...
