3WW #24

Welcome to Three Word Wednesday.

Each week, I will post three (or more) random words. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write something using all of those words. It can be a few lines, a story, a poem, anything. This is a writing exercise. It doesn't have to be perfect. The idea is to let your mind wander and write what it will. I'll also attempt to write something using the same three words.

Be sure to leave a comment if you participate.

This week's words are:

The wilted countenance
The single tear
The last I ever
Brushed away

Letters in a drawer
Pictures in a box
But those in the heart
Fail to fade

The hollow rooms
The silent spaces
I once craved
Now serve to haunt

Pen to paper
I try to write
But the ink
Has all run out

My muse
Has gone

"You could be happy, and I won't know. But you weren't happy the day I watched you go..."

  1. Tapping feet impatiently while staring at my watch... (minor detail that I don't wear one, right? ;))

  2. My goodness TC, he just posted this!

  3. Here's mine. It's called "Why She Went Away"

I spent hundreds of hours trying to reach level 70 in WoW
I didn't ask who she was talking to while I watched TV
I offered her a drawer when she needed my entire home
I convinced myself that what she wanted was what I wanted
I pretended to sleep while she cried next to me
I turned away when she showed me who she really was
I took her to the same restaurant where I'd taken all my ex's
My only present to her wilted in the cheap plastic vase
I waited patiently on my couch for her to come over
I touched her where my last girlfriend liked to be touched
The only ink on my birthday card to her was Hallmark's
I thought my wants were more important than her needs
I cooked her dinner in the microwave
I thought she was ugly when she was never more beautiful
I wrote about inanity when I should have been writing to her
I let her think she wasn't important to me
I fucked her when she needed to be loved
    That's why she went away

  4. I love the last two lines especially.

You know how I feel about cliches, and with each line then the next in your lyrics, you took potential cliches and swept them away

    Love this also:
    Pen to paper
    I try to write
    But the ink
    Has all run out

There's a truly timeless quality to this that I like

Mine will be up Friday. Don't want to upset you by actually having it on Wednesday

  5. Renee: I waited over two hours before I said anything today. :-P

That said, I do feel bad having read this.

Amazing doesn't quite cover it, Bone. My brain's a little shot right now though, so I don't think I can say anything that will do it justice.

  6. Renee: Nice job on your 3rd overall and 1st on your blog :)

Xinh: Good to see someone is having a bit more time to blog lately.

Anonymous AC: Wow. I've been guilty of several of those myself. Although thankfully, not the first :)

    Thanks for participating.

Pia: Thank you. And thanks for not upsetting the space time continuum by actually posting your 3WW on Wednesday :)

    TC: Don't feel bad! I know you're teasing :)

I'm not sure it's anything great, but thank you.

  7. It was good...different...liked it!

Mines posted...long but not sad like TC's.

Aren't we all getting to be so creative!!!

  8. Don't freak out, I did one too. It's up.

  9. one of my commenters like this idea and has decided to take on the 3WW task too. I sent her over here...especially to see what I consider your best commedic work..."Urinalysis..."
You might get a few hits on that post soon.

  10. Hi... visiting from Renee's. Mine is up... and I'm afraid I'll be a regular visitor from now on!

  11. I'm not sure it's anything great

Well I am sure, and it's obviously my opinion that counts and not your's. ;)

  12. TagAlong: Why, yes. It's quite fun, actually, seeing what everyone comes up with.

HotPinkSox: Wow. Welcome to the party. Do you need something to write with? ;)

Renee: Why, thanks. Writing about the innerworkings of public restrooms comes naturally to me, for some reason :)

Judy: Welcome to the 3 Word Wednesday! It's sort of like Mad Libs, except not as funny :)

    TC: Obviously :)

  13. ok so my choice was 7am b4 you posted it or now.... 740 pm...

In truth, after reading yours I dont think I could do it justice.

Isnt it funny that we all feel the same feelings and we all bleed red... even though we all seem so different and unique!

sorry.. I am going on and on...

  14. Oh my God, you give assignments here? How do I get out of doing my homework? Can't I just wear my cheerleading outfit and be done with it?

  15. up up up. Three in a row.

Yours is haunting. I've felt those ghosts.

I did poetry this week too.

  16. Oh, would you look at that! We're in agreement again. ;)

  17. Kate: Good observation. I would say that I'll post the words earlier next week, but I'm afraid I wouldn't :)

Brookelina: oNlY iF yOu AlSo TyPe LiKe ThIs... OmG! rOfL!!! :)

Sylvia: Thanks for participating :) I was wondering where you were all day.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Chica: I've decided I have to pick and choose my battles :)

  18. Hmmm, ink on my (now) wilted (and sticky)drawer = never do that again. And cute bone and his blog = more, more, make it twice that[that line came from a moive{the part where the killer boss's voice gets messed up, from drinking a large amount of chili ,in his coffe, that the clueless hero though the boss asked for,was very funny}called 'Mr. Accident'].

  19. I've decided I have to pick and choose my battles :)

Only 34 and he's figured out how to deal with women... this is impressive. Should I write the GBOWR?

  20. I WILL have MINE DONE

I WAS too BUSY doing SOMEthing A BONE threw MY WAY

  21. I look forward to playing next week. In the meantime, I'm posting a link in my blog. What a GREAT site.

  22. I'm sucking ASS at 3WW lately...I'm sorry :-(

  23. Girl FPS: Thanks for playing.

TC: I've noticed you've been sprinkling 34 in your comments quite liberally recently :)

Pia: I like the ALL CAPS look. It becomes you. More people should do that, really.

Gay: Great! Thanks for stopping by.

Arlene: LOL That made me laugh for some reason.

  24. I've noticed you've been sprinkling 34 in your comments quite liberally recently

And what are you getting at, Bone? That I'm annoying you or...? ;-)

  25. I've missed your prose.
Welcome back to feelings in short bursts.

  26. it's been a crazy couple of weeks, but i just posted a 3WW for this week.

i like yours very much, and i'm off to read some of the others.

  27. TC: Nope. Not one bit :) Just a random observation.

Elizabeth: Thank you. I'm not sure how good or bad it is, but it's out there, for better or worse. And it's from the heart.

Alison: Thanks. I understand. There's no requirement that you post on Wednesday :)
