Someday

(This was inspired by the 3 Word Wednesday exercise. This week's words were: frequent, open someday)

someday waits on sun drenched sand
for lovers two
walking heart in hand
a lost and lonesome wind in search of sails

someday longs for stroke of pen
to close distance 'tween
long absent friends
someday sighs as stubbornness prevails

someday hopes and someday dreams
and forever someday frequent seems
promises someday often makes
yesterdays left in someday's wake

someday I'll make time for you
do all the things we meant to do
someday we'll go here and there
someday will be soon I swear

someday breaks in distant place
where promises are kept
and dreams are chased
father and son play catch in open field

"When you comin' home son? I don't know when. But we'll get together then. You know we'll have a good time then..."

This has been weighing on me lately

Love how you take the everyday and mundane and make it into something
    Your poetry keeps getting better

  6. Pia - Thank you. It's so easy to put things off another day. Then days so quickly turn into years.

Cami - Chills are good. Thanks for letting me know.

Paisley - Thank you. That song just popped in my head and I thought it fit well.

Kowthas - Yeah, I even thought the 3rd and 4th stanzas were almost Dr. Seuss-ish, but I liked what they said.

Lissa - Thank you. I know I've spent many todays dreaming of tomorrow or lost in yesterday.

  7. Great post, Bone. Thanks for stopping by over at my place, even though I've been scarce... too many things on my plate right now. Hope that changes soon.

Think of you often, though--every time I put up a new Norbert and Smedley.

  8. A poet's heart is a rare gift. :)

And I hear plaid shorts are all the rage, well, those and madras shorts. Glad you thought of me (I think.)

  9. Sometimes someday never comes. And sometimes, we have the opportunity to make "someday" be today.

Why put things off? Why make promises we aren't going to keep? Why let stubbornness win?

  10. Gay - Thank you. I've been pretty scarce myself lately. I'm slowly catching up with everyone. By the way, I like the new pic!

Carmen - Thanks. That's a very nice thing to say. I had to google madras.

TC - At one point, I was actually trying to work in a line about someday being today.

Shayna - Thank you. Always great to see you around :)
