Coming Out Of The Closet

Well, I guess it's time I admit it. I'm just not like other people. A few of you may already know what I'm about to tell you. For the rest of you, it may come as a shock. Am I embarrassed? Yes. Do I need help? Probably. But I finally realized it Wednesday afternoon. (sigh) Please don't think any less of me because of this. It's not something I wanted. I wanted to hate it. I stayed away from it as long as I could. But I can't deny it any longer. But the first step to recovery is admitting it, right? So here goes: I am a closet Dr. Phil fan.

There, I said it. What did you think I was going to say? Good grief. Woooooooooo!!!! I was watching Wednesday and he had an intervention for a 21 year old drug addict. His parents and his brother and sister were all there. It was intense. He did not want to go. Basically, it came down to he had tested positive for pain killers a few weeks ago, so they told him either he could go to rehab or face prescription drug charges and jail.

In other TV news, I was watching The History Channel yesterday. They had this 15-minute segment on the SL-1 Nuclear Reactor disaster in Idaho in 1961. It was eerie. Of course, THC always makes it more interesting and suspenseful. Strangely, I had never heard of this disaster. You always hear of Chernobyl and Three Mile Island and whatever. But do a search for it if you want some interesting reading. Here's someone's brief synopsis of it.

Thanks to KYLE for the google fun. If you go to google.com, copy and paste the following:

Kyle, Beth, Davina, Applebees

Then hit "I'm feeling lucky", you'll get a surprise. lol

You can also try: billiards, Applebees, Donna

Or pretty much any combination of Applebees and waitress names. ROFL I don't know how that works.

"I thought that we would happen. I guess I'm wrong, we'll move along. I know this will be awkward, but not for long. Cos soon you'll have a new boy to sing you songs. I will not forgive you, nor will I accept the blame. I will see you on good Friday..."

Bloggin' Bout Billiards, Beth, and the Bizarro World

Late gettin' in last night (nearly 11:00), so no time to blog. Here's a recap... Went RUNNING around 4:30. Came home, showered, then went to eat dinner with my sister. She had cooked. Went straight from there to KYLE'S. We went to shoot pool. NO ONE I knew was working. It was like Bizarro Billiards. I recognized like one guy, but the lady who took our order didn't know us. She charged me for my tea. Urgghh! You work so hard to obtain "regular" status at these places, den dey bus'-up wit sum all new staff. Anyway, the billiards seemed to be better than the last couple of weeks. The cues are getting progressively worse, however. I think we've contributed enough money to that place that they can afford some new cues now. I won 4 out of 6 games, even though KYLE set me up a couple of games by scratching on his ball, giving me ball in hand on the 8. LOL Anyway, either they're gonna have to start scheduling some regulars on Thursdays or we're gonna have to change billiards night.

Exchange of the night:
"If (certain event happens), I don't know what I'll do."
"Oh I think I know. Probably the same thing that I would do if (certain event happens). There'd be one less person on the face of the Earth." ROFL

Other funny quotes:
"Well, I can't drive home now."

"She can smell it."

"She would like you."
"Yeah, she was all talking to you that one night, man."
"Oh yeah." ROFL

"Are you not gonna sit down?"
"I don't know."
"No, he thinks it looks gay."

Cruised up to APPLEBEES after that. Sat with DONNA. BETH was up there by herself so I went and sat by her. We got there about 9:00 and didn't leave until almost 10:30. JESSICA was training and came to sit down after she got off. so KYLE ended up sitting between her and her friend, JENNIFER, chatting with them. Turns out JENNIFER went to high school with BUNNY. Anyway, I couldn't hear most of their conversation, cos BETH and I were like on the end. BETH was all like, "They're gonna wanna go home, and I'm ready to go out." I was like man, if I didn't have to get up at 5 AM. Anyway, she's a sweetheart. I did ask DONNA about Jennifer, from Bizarro Us, for KYLE'S benefit. She said that her and her husband had just separated. He had moved out, and Donna hadn't seen her lately to know if they were still apart. Man, that sucks. I think the thing that scares me most about marriage is that my wife will just freak out and want a divorce. I mean, to me, once you make that decision, then all your arguments are discussions from then on out should be "How do we work this out", not "Can we work this out?" But of course, it takes two making the effort, working as a team, not against each other. But marriage is probably still awhile off for me. However, if something unexpected develops, at least I do have a wedding singer lined up. LOL

Also found out NATALIE is leaving to go to MADISON in a week or two. So we decided to slide JESSICA into her slot in the rotation. So it now stands at: DONNA, DAVINA, BETH, JESSICA, KRISTINA, and TONYA. Anyway, for some reason, KYLE was in a hurry to leave. I was thinking, "Dude, we're sitting here talking to three hot chicks and you're in a hurry to go home?" I dunno. But he was my ride, so we had to go. LOL Speaking of the Bizarro World, the "Bizarro Jerry" episode of SEINFELD was on when I got home. That's a classic.

J: "Kramer?!?!"
K: "Hey buddy!"
J: "It's eight o'clock in the morning! What's going on?"
K: "I'm cookin' breakfast. I gotta be in at Brandt-Leland by nine."
J: "Why?"
K: "Because I'm workin' there, that's why."
J: (rubbing his eyes) How long have I been asleep? What year is this?"
K: "Jerry, I don't know if you've noticed or not. But lately I've been drifting...aimlessly."
J: (snapping his fingers) "Now that you mention it." ROFL

"Someday I'll find a way to shine. Leave all these rainy days behind. I know there's got to be some place warm and bright for me. I'm running out of places I can run. Looking for a place in the sun..."

Blogging... eliminating the need for person-to-person conversation

The second half of the day turned busy at work. Pulled a scare on TAMMY when I got back from the store this morning. I was like "What happened to your headlight?" She was like, "My headlight?!?!!" and stood up. I burst out laughing. She just got an '04 IMPALA a couple of weeks ago. Got paid. Ran by the bank on my way home. Woohoo! Need to start Christmas shopping. I kinda wanna go see "Elf" with Wil Ferrell. It is a well-known fact, however, that I have only been to the movies twice in the last two years. LOL So maybe I should wait until 2004. LOL

Other random news... I received an e-mail today with the subject line "Get thinner while you sleep." What is up with that, like Chinese organ thieves or something? Uh, no thanks, I'm sort of fond of my spleen. I'll keep my intestines. Thanks anyway. Looking forward to BILLIARDS tonight. I'm hoping (probably futilely) that going from the regulation table Saturday to the bar table tonight will make things easier on the smaller table, kinda like swinging two bats in the on-deck circle or something. We'll see.

"I don't want your freedom. I don't want to play around. I don't want nobody, baby. Part-time love just brings me down. I don't want your freedom. Girl all I want right now is you..."

Blog Jam

Seems like most everyone is late getting in today, most likely due to the 18-wheeler accidents on I-65 this morning. There were some logs spilled onto the road. Last I heard, northbound traffic was still being diverted off at 334, down 67, to 31 in Decatur. So that's probably why some of the bloggers are late this morning. Knowing KYLE, he probably saw the tie-up and decided to go back home. LOL Speaking of that, I did that once at college. Couldn't find a decent parking place, so I turned around and went home. LOL Of course, it never took much to get me to skip class. Ahhh, those were the days.

So what has been going on around here? Well it's been slow this morning, which is a welcome change from the past couple of days. KYLE informed me of some good news yesterday. JESSICA is starting to work up at APPLEBEES. I'm not sure if it's just as a second job or what, but it'll be good to see more of her. I thought I saw her Tuesday up there. I saw a waitress up there and commented to Kyle, "That looks like Jessica...but it can't be." Her face was mostly hidden by the computer, then she went into the back and I never saw her again. Guess it was her after all.

Watched part of the CMA's last night. Didn't get to see some of the performances I really wanted to see (AJ and Buffet, Tim doing "Red Ragtop", or Strait). I did get to see the Johnny Cash tribute, which gave me chills. Great to see Kris Kristofferson out there. Don't see him that often anymore. Alan Jackson's speech at the end was really good too. The most bizarre part to me was when Rascal Flatts tried to give the Group of the Year award to Alabama. Randy and Teddy just sat there for like 15 seconds, then they looked at each other like "What are we supposed to do?" or "Do we really want/need this?" I'm not sure if they were stunned, offended, or what.

I think I'm ready for the cold weather. At least for a couple of weeks. LOL I want to drink hot chocolate and wear warm clothes and cuddle up by the fire with someone special. I wish I had a fire. LOL Or someone special for that matter. Good grief. This line of thought is going nowhere. LOL Woooooooooo!!!

"Up, up and away, away from me. But it's all right. You can all sleep sound tonight. I'm not crazy, or anything. I can't stand to fly. I'm not that naive. Men weren't meant to ride, with clouds between their knees..."

The "other" Righteous Brother

Bobby Hatfield has died. He was 63. For some reason, I could never remember his name. I could always think of Bill Medley, but never could think of his name. Anyway, they had some great songs. When they re-released "Unchained Melody" for the "Ghost" movie back around 1990, I would roll the windows down and blast that song all the way up. :-(

"Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea. To the open arms of the sea, yeah. Lonely rivers sigh, "Wait for me, wait for me. I'll be coming home, wait for me!"

Evening report

Finishing up some MCDONALD'S. Busy night ahead. Lunch was mmmm mmmm!!! Turnip greens, fried potatoes, crowder peas, cole slaw, deviled eggs, etc. Work was busy, unexpectedly. Had some stuff come in today that had to be done today. That's always fun. And the phone was insane today. It's always hard to get anything done when it's like that. Anyhow, I've got church here in a bit, then my 2nd job. Need to study some, too, even though tonight is a singing service. Nothing else much going on. I am working on the dream interp. I have a pretty good idea of my interpretation, but I need to write it all out. Of course, it's all a process and there's no wrong answer in a sense. The goal to me is to hone in and become better and better at it.

Looking forward to the weekly BILLIARDS exhibition on Thursday. It's good to have things to look forward to. Don't know what else is going on this weekend. I have to work for a couple of hours Saturday night. Don't have anything lined up for Friday yet. I may pick up a 3rd job again for the holidays. I love giving people stuff. I still have Bunny's gift I never gave her from last year. LOL Good thing it wasn't a calendar. But I do plan to get her something else. Alright, long night ahead. Thanks for reading.

"My friend the communist, holds meetings in his office. I can't afford his gas. So I'm stuck here watching TV..."

PFS (Pretty Funny Stuff)

(phone rings)
"Hello."
"Hey, can you hear me?"
"Yeah. It's loud."
(turn radio up... hear... "and we can build this thing together, stand this tall forever, Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now"...)
"It's our song."
(laughing) "Well I think we've reached a new low."

I can't tell you the two parties involved in the above conversation, because of "the reason." ROFL

WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

"Let 'em say we're crazy. What do they know? Put your hand in mine, baby, don't ever let go..."

Foooooooooood!

Supposed to be getting some home-cooked food for lunch today. Mmmmm... The way to a man's heart is thru his stomach, ladies. lol Seriously though, I don't know how many times I've had a friend say something to the effect of, "Yeah, but she can cook." It seems like we are able to overlook many flaws if she knows her way around the kitchen.

As for the way to a woman's heart, well, obviously, I have no idea. LOL I've tried it all... and still I'm here. Alone. An island. Waves crashing around me on every side. OK, that's as profound as it gets. I just thought of that Simon & Garfunkel song. But as JON said in his blog, there are definite advantages to the single life.

In other news, the Karate Kid turned 42 yesterday. The Karate Kid! 42!!!!! If that doesn't make you feel old, my friends, nothing will. Still working on the dream research. I've been busy at work here. Had someone in to record. So I haven't had a lot of 'net time today, which is odd.

"Don't talk of love. I've heard the word before. It's sleeping in the memory. I won't disturb the slumber, of feelings that have died. If I never loved, I never would have cried. I am a rock. I am an island..."
