Slow as Christmas, as it was
When sleep came slow, and Santa Claus
Was seen through sinless eyes
December days lasted ten
And time seemed a trustworthy friend
When Mamaw was alive
Slow as Christmas, as they pass
The rate of grains through hourglass
Will leave your head a-spin
Wish I might, I wish I may
For just one year, for just one day
Let it be slow
Again
Yes. Just once more, I wish it took "forever" To get here.
ReplyDeleteThe late Thanksgiving this year didn't help, either. Once that passed, it's like I can never catch up to slow it down.
DeleteNice. In those years when it seemed Christmas would never arrive... but they were always good and now those who made the holiday so meaningful (parents, grandparents, great grandparents) are all gone and us kids (siblings and cousins) are all eligible for social security.
ReplyDeleteThey were always good. A blessing I guess I was too young to appreciate then.
