3WW #40

Welcome to Three Word Wednesday. Each week, I will post three (or more) random words. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write something using all of those words. It can be a few lines, a story, a poem, anything. I'll also attempt to write something using the same three words.

Leave a comment if you participate. Many fun and interesting people might visit your blog.

For the first time ever, I am trying four words instead of three. It's a very exciting milestone for 3WW :) This week's words are:
Magic
Repeatedly
Forty
Admit

"Admit it! That box has a false door!"

"Sir, please be seated. As you can see, this is a simple, completely empty wooden box."

"There's no such thing as magic! Only trickery! You're a fraud! I want my money back!"

Forty years as a magician and the Great Vendini had never experienced such a rude, disruptive heckler. He tried to be the consummate professional and ignore the disturbance, but the man persisted.

"Fraud! Fraud! Fraud!" the man yelled repeatedly, stomping his foot on the stage, arms flailing. He would look at Vendini then back at the audience as if to garner support. He was a short, pudgy fellow, probably all of five-foot-two, and bore a striking resemblance to Danny DeVito.

Where was security? A buzz began to spread across the crowd. People were growing restless and uneasy. The Great Vendini was losing his audience. Then the aging magician remembered that most basic of all magic tricks and quickly pulled a rabbit out of his hat. Well, figuratively, at least.

"Ladies and gentlemen! For my next trick, I will attempt to saw Danny DeVito here in half."

The buzz of the crowd quickly changed to laughter.

"Please come, sir," The Great Vendini continued, moving his hand in a welcoming gesture towards the large black box. The heckler now stood silent and frozen on the stage, looking a tad fearful and more than slightly embarrassed.

"You will, of course, forgive me if I fail. After all, I am a bit of a fraud."

The crowd erupted in laughter. And when security arrived on stage, most in attendance thought it was all part of the act. As the unruly, now red-faced spectator was being lead away, the old magician spoke.

"Ladies and gentleman, a round of applause please for Danny DeVito!"

"Mr. Wizard can't perform no god-like hocus-pocus. So don't sit back, kick back, and watch the world get bushwhacked. News at ten, your neighborhood is under attack..."

  5. Oh Bone, can I blame my somewhat catty poem on your putting the word "forty" in your prompt, rather than on my mood? (Grin)

I had to post on my other blog, I am trying to move MeeAugraphie to its own domain. . . not sure I will ever find it again. Off to read all the 3WWs,I'm behind.

  7. Wow four words. I am working intensively on my book and will be back to 3WW or 4WW or 5WW, in two weeks or after I have a nervous breakdown

It's pouring, pouring rain so I have no excuse today not to work. I'm also not used to being in a house alone with thunder and lightening

Sage, you are too clever today

  8. I wrote a silly haiku and a short story that both use the words. This was fun!

  13. Had me laughing out loud at the thought of Danny De Vito, who I could picture perfectly, being sawed in half, but alas
As the unruly, now red-faced spectator was being lead away, the old magician spoke.

  14. "You will, of course, forgive me if I fail. After all, I am a bit of a fraud."

    LOL

You can almost see the look on Danny boy's face at this point in time. Reminds you of the grade school bully who isn't afraid of anyone or anything... until you really put out the challenge.

    Fun story.

  15. My vote for the best this week, Bone. Well done. Love the ending.

  16. Mine's up! One whole sentence, not even a haiku this time.

They used to have these specials that aired on Fox that showed how some of the magicians' tricks were performed. I loved that show because I like knowing how it's all done. And oddly enough, it doesn't take away the mystery for me.

  17. Ok, mine is up. I blame you Bone for reminding me of a cheesy song

  18. Pia Savage: Thanks. Glad you found it funny. Should I be disturbed that Danny DeVito just popped into my head for no reason?

TC: Yeah, I've been on a bit of a light-hearted streak the past few 3WW's.

Gay: Aww, thank you. That's very nice of you to say.

Xinher: Seems like I remember those, and may have even watched one or two.

Sage: Ah, I was wondering what cheesy song it could have been.

Yep, a pregnant 3WW :) I guess I have been doing 3WW for about nine months or so...

  19. Good thing the guy didn't actually have to use the Danny DeVito look-a-like in his saw-a-guy-in-half tricks because he probably could not have made it work (DeVito is too chubby).

  20. "Oh crap, this wizard is way strong, he is resistant to every magic spell cast at him, I'm out of here!" yelled Darth Annette as the thug wizard chased her out of the Ancestral cave tomb, screaming "now you die!!".

After she slamed the door of the tomb, leaving the wizard locked down in the cave, she shouted to the sky "Fine! I admit it, I'm not strong enough yet, but just wait till I've leveled up a bit".

Then she cast a levitation spell and started floating off toward the sunset repeatedly mumbling the words " I'll be back to loot the cave when I'm at level forty".The End

Darth Annette is my custom character from a xbox game called ''The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind''.

  21. I know I've said this previously, but no matter when you post, it's well worth the wait.

    This line is my favorite:

He tried to be the consummate professional and ignore the disturbance, but the man persisted.

Haven't we all been there a time or nine?

I've rarely seen a writer as strong in his/her abilities as yourself. Fiction, non-fiction, recaps . . . You're a Jack of All Trades, Sir Bone. AND Master of All, as well

  22. Yep, a pregnant 3WW :) I guess I have been doing 3WW for about nine months or so...

Something you want to tell all of us, Bone? *er*

I mean, we'd want like to be among the first (blog readers) to congratulate you...

    O:)

  23. I loved this. Really cool.

I also like your idea for DD. I'll have to tell her about it when she gets up.

  24. Bone, how do you make it so real? I loved your story, but I admit I hate to watch magic because I know I am being tricked and get mad that I am not smart enough or quick enough to catch them. I mean I really get frustrated. So, the only thing separating me and your character is I wouldn't go see magic and unless I had major PMS I would control my frustration in public. LOL.

    More, please.

  25. GirlFPS: Ah yes, but I failed to mention it was a Ginsu knife, so it could cut anything. Even a shoe :)

You're very imaginative with these video game stories.

Avery: Why, thank you, Miss Laine. Those are very kind words.

TC: I'm so glad Sage came up with that term. It still makes me laugh. Who else would come up with something called Three Word Wednesday, then wind up posting four words, and their story on a Thursday? :)

Renee: Thanks. Oh that's right, you gals are an hour or two behind me.

Shelby: Thanks for playing, Miss Shelby.

Marcia: I'm not really sure, but I'm glad it seemed real. Yeah, if it's that frustrating, you should probably stay away from the magic shows :)

  26. hummm...was it mean of me to want to see the blood running from his "attempt" at cutting the man in half? Fraud indeed! :)

  27. This is my first try at writing short fiction. I mainly write poems.
